01 The clock
ERCOT’s interconnection queue has run to roughly 380 gigawatts. Generation built behind the meter, on land you control, never stands in it.
Waiting has a price. Hardware specified for 2027 energizes into a facility finished years after the generation it was bought for has been superseded. Capital sits allocated. Compute sits allocated. Competitors deploy. And the capacity you could have controlled early is bought late, at scarcity pricing, from whoever did the work sooner.
